Ionized Water Revitalizes Not-So-Fresh Produce!

As you probably know, fruits and vegetables begin to reduce in their nutritional value and vitality almost as soon as they are picked from their plant.

Testing by Ronnie Ruiz, a researcher with Chanson Water USA (www.chansonwater.com), manufacturer of water ionizers, has changed all that. His results found that soaking produce in alkaline ionized water will revive the antioxidant properties of plant foods - in a similar way that electric shock can revive a heart patient.

Using a sophisticated antioxidant measuring tool called an ORP meter, Ruiz measured the oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of organic backyard tomatoes each hour after picking - and then again each hour after they had been soaking in electrolyzed alkaline ionized water.

Ruiz found that the electrical energy in alkaline ionized water donates its electrons right back into the produce - causing it to have measurably more negative ORP and antioxidants than before it had been placed in the ionized water. This is great news for anyone who wants to benefit from the healing power of living food.

Also, soaking fruits and vegetables in high alkaline water for approximately 10 minutes will remove any waxes or pesticides from non-organic produce - further protecting our health.

Water that beats Depression

What is it?

Depression is a state of mind and body where a person feels mentally and physically not up to the mark. It impairs performance, be it at work, home or in relationships. It is characterized by feelings of worthlessness, insomnia, lack of energy and self guilt. Research has shown that depression stems from physiological and biochemical imbalances in the body. 1 in 4 Americans suffers from this condition at some point in their life. Studies have shown that our diet has a major impact on the way we feel and this feeds depression.

Symptoms and Diagnoses

You may be diagnosed as clinically depressed if you have 5 of the following 8 symptoms and experience them for a month or longer.

  • Decreased ability to concentrate and think
  • Loss of interest in usual activities and decreased libido
  • Hyperactivity or inactivity
  • Feelings of fatigue and loss of energy
  • Difficulty sleeping

Dietary Considerations

The food we eat has the most profound impact on the way we feel. Sugar has been found to be a major deciding factor in whether a person feels depressed. As the brain requires stable sugar levels, eating foods with sugary content causes the pancreas to secrete excess insulin which in turn pushes the blood sugar drastically low. To compensate this, an over production of adrenal hormone cortisol takes place and the brain’s neurotransmitter balance is also disturbed. Surprisingly, for a while sugary foods relieve the symptoms of depression but in the longer run cause energy levels to plummet and generate depression.

Another common cause of depression is Hypoglycemia, low or unstable blood sugar levels. If you suffer from this:

Stay away from sodas, too much caffeine and nicotine

  • Avoid pasta, and white bread as both transform into sugar quickly
  • Eliminate simple sugars such as alcohol, fruit juice and honey

Another major culprit is fried foods as they make the blood cells sticky which inhibits the generation of neurotransmitters in the brain. The outcome: aggravation in depression. Decrease consumption of fatty foods, hamburgers, cheese, whole milk and other fried foods.

Too much caffeine may bring about several symptoms of depression like head aches, irritability and nervousness. Low vitamin C levels also cause depression and nicotine (cigarettes) is known to deplete vitamin C as much as 25 mg with every cigarette. Smoking proves to be a very real cause of depression.

To produce positive results, adopt a low allergy diet. Try to remove allergens from your diet. To do this, remove all of these: Wheat, chocolate, milk, corn, soy (all associated with cerebral symptoms), cheese, alcohol, eggs, and citrus.

  • All vegetables except tomatoes and corn

Strike a balance between proteins and complex carbohydrates. This is will have a positive impact on the production neurotransmitters.

  • When you are feeling agitated, eating complex carbohydrates like beans, brown rice and vegetables will help you feel better by calming you down.
  • Protein supports the production of dopamine and norepinephrine which will make you feel more alert.
  • As a rule, you should eat more complex carbohydrates if you are feeling nervous and need to relax, while eat more proteins if you are tired and need to be alert.
